In my early twenties I rode my bicycle across America. Along with the necessities, I took a 35mm camera. All over the Rockies and through the numerous national parks and monuments I took photographs. I have also been commissioned to take architectural photographs for general contractors and have taken portfolio shots for cabinet makers and other craftsman. Seeking ever new vistas I took up skydiving and became a skydiving camera man.
My work has been exhibited in Arts on Fire at the Sanchez Art Center, at the SoFo2 Gallery in Santa Rosa, and in the Crocker Kingsley annual exhibit at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento.
Because I am always expanding my knowledge of photography I now shoot in medium format as well as large format. My black and white prints, for example, were taken with a 4X5 Sinar View Camera. These photographs are limited editions of 40 with 5 artist proofs.
But most recently I have been experimenting with small color photographs printed on Reeves print maker's paper. The negatives are developed and scanned into a digital file. Once digital I print the images with archival inks and mount them on acid free 100% cotton rag mat board. I like the painterly quality that the print maker's paper gives to the image. These photographs have for the most part been taken with a 35mm camera but there are a couple of digital camera shots here as well. I find that I have more control over the image using the 35mm rather than a digital camera. These photographs are limited editions of 25 with 5 artist proofs.
